Hesketh Henry’s Employment Law Team is excited to once again be running its exclusive training workshops to help you navigate tricky workplace issues.

The aim of each workshop is to improve knowledge about employers’ legal obligations, and provide practical advice to manage difficult employment issues.  Attendees can also receive CPD points if needed.

All are welcome to attend the workshops, but they would be most beneficial to employers, owners, managers, HR professionals, and in-house legal advisors. The number of attendees is limited to ensure you will get the most out of it.

Thursday, 9 May 2024 – Social Media Policy Workshop

With an increase in the use of social media and technology for both personal and professional purposes, and flexible working arrangements becoming commonplace, employers need to be familiar with the relevant legislation and have clear guidance in place to avoid landing themselves in hot water.

This workshop will cover the intersection between social media and privacy considerations in employment. The following will be covered:

  • The legal framework: application of the relevant legislation including the Employment Relations Act 2000 and the Privacy Act 2020.
  • The process: how to deal with employees who misuse social media.
  • The leading cases law on hiring and firing: from using social media to assess a job candidate to terminating employees for statements posted to social media.
  • Implementing clear guidelines: developing and implementing a social media policy with a ‘hands on’ discussion of a draft social media policy for your workplace.
