Changes to EU data regulation and how it will affect your business.

Are you storing any personal Data from EU Citizens? Yes? This workshop is a MUST for you to attend.

All businesses that collect the personal data of EU data subjects must comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) by 25 May 2018, whether your operations are based in NZ or the EU.

The EU institutions have recognised the increased cybersecurity risks posed to EU citizens worldwide, including identity theft and information misuse. In response, the EU has rolled out a new GDPR, which substantially enhances and expands previous restrictions and protections under EU law. The penalties for non-compliance are significant.

Chris Griggs will guide you through the new GDPR, indicating where it has changed from previous EU law and how it differs from New Zealand’s privacy law.

About your speaker:

Chris Griggs is a board member of GNZCC and a member of the legal panel of the German Embassy.  He practises as a barrister in Wellington, advising and representing commercial clients throughout New Zealand and offshore on a broad range of public and private law matters, including information privacy law.  Chris has a first-class master’s degree in international law from the University of Cambridge, in addition to New Zealand legal qualifications.
