The founding of the Bauhaus art school has made a name for itself worldwide and one of the most influential aesthetic trends of the 20th century has emerged. Even today – 100 years after its creation by Walter Gropius – the art, design and architecture of the Bauhaus era inspire us.
German Federal President Steinmeier drew a connection between the Bauhaus and democracy in his speech on the occasion of the opening ceremony. “The Bauhaus needed the freedom of the Weimar Republic and at the same time gave it a form of expression.”
