We Connect Countries
A lot of people are very surprised by the size of the German Chamber Network.
The network has been around since 1894 - over 126 years - so it had quite some time to develop!
In Germany there is a core network of so called IHK's (German Chambers of Commerce & Industry) with over 4 million member companies. It is important to understand that it is compulsory for companies to belong to their local Chamber in Germany. Their subscription is a percentage of their company’s turnover each year.
The German Chambers in Germany not only run events, they are also responsible for operating the very important dual vocational training certification – a unique educational program and success story in itself in Germany.
Outside of Germany we have the AHK network (the German Chamber of Commerce Abroad). A network of 140 offices in 92 countries, looking after about 50 000 member companies worldwide.
Our Chamber in New Zealand is the largest of the European membership organisations with just under 300 member companies, including many of the 130 German subsidiaries, New Zealand agents of German products and on the reverse side New Zealand exporters focused on the German market and importers and manufacturers sourcing German products.
