Project Summary

The project aims to develop an inclusive and sustainable energy system by engaging a wide range of stakeholders, including the energy provider Te Aponga Uira and several government ministries (Education, Tourism, Environment, and Infrastructure). Its objective is to contribute to climate protection, energy security, and the reduction of energy costs. A particular focus is placed on knowledge transfer to local communities, students, and youth.

• Completion of a feasibility study and development of a model project plan
• Establishment of a long-term, sustainable network of relevant stakeholders
• Training and capacity-building for the local community to support future energy initiatives

Project Objectives and Approach

The project follows an integrated approach that combines technological, economic, and social factors. Key locations such as Motu Beachfront Villas Resort, Kent Community Hall, and Titikaveka School will serve as demonstration platforms.

At these sites, smart meters will be installed to collect energy data that are essential for the feasibility study and the development of the project plan. Complementary workshops will raise awareness of renewable energy, strengthen community engagement, and ensure the project’s long-term sustainability.
