Under the German Energy Solutions Initiative of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE), the German-New Zealand Chamber of Commerce (GNZCC) will lead the first German company delegation to the Cook Islands from 1 to 5 December 2025.

The trip supports the initiative to expand renewable energy and infrastructure on the Cook Islands, with a specific focus on energy infrastructure and e-mobility. The programme on Rarotonga and Aitutaki includes executive roundtables and site visits dedicated to solar PV and hybrid systems, battery storage, mini-grids, hydrogen technologies, biogas, and environmental monitoring.

The delegation brings together seven well-known and internationally active German companies recognised for their engineering excellence, innovation, and reliability:

  • BAE Batterien GmbH – manufacturer of durable industrial lead-acid batteries for renewable-energy storage, off-grid, hybrid, and backup power systems.
  • SMA Altenso GmbH (SMA Group) – international EPC and system integrator for PV-hybrid, off-grid/mini-grid, and BESS projects, including hydrogen and power-to-gas solutions for island and weak-grid systems.
  • H2 Powercell GmbH – developer of hydrogen fuel-cell CHP and power systems producing on-site electricity and heat for buildings and industry.
  • Everllence – technology provider for decarbonised generation, flexible and efficient power plants, storage, and power-to-X solutions (formerly MAN Energy Solutions).
  • TRIOS Mess- und Datentechnik GmbH – specialist in optical immersion sensors and analytical instruments for marine, drinking- and wastewater monitoring, supporting environmental management and smart infrastructure.
  • Snow Leopard Projects GmbH – biogas engineering firm designing, building, and operating plants worldwide, with expertise in fibrous feedstocks, biochar, and carbon-sink solutions.
  • Ostermeier H2ydrogen Solutions GmbH (OHS) – provider of modular hydrogen systems for on-site production, storage, and use, including electrolysers, compression, and fuel-cell power for micro-grids and long-duration energy storage.

Together, these companies represent Germany’s strong expertise in renewable-energy engineering and sustainable infrastructure, offering proven technologies tailored to the specific needs of island energy systems and e-mobility applications.
