Invest now in the enormous potential of onshore and offshore wind energy in New Zealand, as the country aims to double its renewable electricity supply by 2050.

Participation From November 11 to 15, 2024, a digital energy business trip will take place. During the specialist conference on November 12, you will have the opportunity to present your company, products, and services to a professional audience. On the following days, the AHK New Zealand will organize individual B2B meetings with relevant decision-makers and potential business partners for each participating company.

We are looking for German companies in the fields of onshore and offshore wind energy.

The conference for this energy business trip will be held online. Upon the request of the participating companies and as far as travel conditions allow, the individual B2B meetings can also be held in person on-site.

The registration deadline is September 13, 2024.

Since 2018, a participation fee based on the company size has been charged for participation in energy business trips. For more detailed information, please refer to the registration documents. If the participation fee is received by August 16, 2024, you will receive a 40% discount on the net amount of the participation fee.

Information about the target market New Zealand has the third-highest share of renewable energy in primary supply among OECD countries, surpassed only by Norway and Iceland. About 40% of the country's total energy comes from renewable resources, with the majority being used for electricity generation. 80% of New Zealand's electricity is generated from renewable energy sources, primarily from hydropower and geothermal energy.

The state-owned electricity provider Transpower estimates that New Zealand will need to increase its electricity generation by 68% by 2050 to keep pace with population growth and the increasing electrification of transport and industry. Additionally, with fossil fuel power plants set to be decommissioned, it will be necessary to double the generation of renewable electricity by 2050.

To achieve this ambitious goal, the focus is increasingly shifting to wind energy. Currently, 19 wind farms are either in operation or under planning in New Zealand, with a generation capacity of 690 megawatts. New Zealand holds enormous potential, and far more than the current 5% of New Zealand's electricity could be generated from wind. According to studies, there is even 150 times more wind power capacity than the domestic market requires, offering the country the opportunity to export green energy worldwide.

This untapped potential, combined with New Zealand's first-place ranking in the Ease of Doing Business Index, provides the perfect climate for entering the market.

Organization and Contact The event is organized by eclareon GmbH, an implementer of the Energy Export Initiative, in cooperation with AHK New Zealand. For questions regarding participation from the German side, please contact Kai Unger (eclareon GmbH).
