We had the privilege of marking a meaningful moment in the history of the GNZCC as we said farewell to Monique Surges, long-serving CEO of the German-New Zealand Chamber of commerce.
After 33 years with the organisation, including 26 years as CEO, Monique leaves behind a legacy that has made a lasting imprint on both the Chamber and German–New Zealand economic relations.
Throughout her tenure, she was a central force in shaping the Chamber’s growth and evolution. With a rare ability to bridge two cultures and a deep appreciation of both Germany and New Zealand, she played a key role in strengthening bilateral ties. Her enduring strength was her capacity to bring people together, foster trust, and turn connections into long-term partnerships.
The farewell took place alongside the 26th Annual General Meeting, followed by a warm gathering of colleagues, partners, and friends who came together to honour and reflect on her extraordinary contribution and lasting impact.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude for her outstanding dedication spanning more than three decades. Her legacy will continue to resonate throughout the network and within the wider German–New Zealand relationship for many years to come.
We wish her every happiness and fulfilment in the next chapter as she embraces well-deserved time with her family in retirement.
