About the role

This role is available in the Auckland and Tauranga offices.

As an Automation Engineer, you will design, develop, implement, and support automation systems that enhance the productivity of manufacturing and industrial clients. Collaborate with a talented team of engineers on a variety of projects that push the boundaries of your skills.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate with client’s engineering, production, and maintenance teams to understand process requirements and provide automation solutions.
  • Design, develop, and implement automation and control solutions. 
  • Integrate various automation components such as sensors, actuators, and control devices into cohesive systems.
  • Develop and troubleshoot PLC programs, HMI applications, and SCADA systems.
  • Perform system testing, debugging, and validation to ensure seamless operation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards in all automation projects.
  • Document system designs, user manuals, and operational procedures.
  • Provide training to clients and team members.

About you

Ideally, you will have some or all of the following qualifications and experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (automation, mechatronics, electrical, process, etc.).
  • 3-5 years of experience in automation engineering or a related role.
  • Experience with machine vision, machine safety, robotics, motion control, IoT, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and industrial automation software is very desirable. 
  • Functional Description creation and review.
  • Experience with the Beckhoff platform is an advantage.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Open to occasional travel for project commissioning.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be eligible to work in NZ.
