Introduction and Regulatory Framework

Offshore wind has a long history of deployment in Germany and has played a part in paving the way for worldwide use of this renewable resource. Throughout the 20 years since the first German offshore wind park received its permit, many achievements in terms of cost reductions, innovation and policy settings have been made that can be shared to help other countries in reducing emissions.

New Zealand is on the brink of setting the regulatory framework for offshore wind that will enable the development of the world-leading offshore resource in the Tasman Sea and beyond and can look to Germany and Europe to benefit from lessons-learned and best practices.

Our digital offshore wind workshops will dive into aspects of targets, policy setting, regulations, lessons learned, innovation, supply chains and the business case for offshore wind from a governmental and industry perspective. Speakers from both Germany and New Zealand will share their insights and discuss how both countries can address the challenges that lie ahead on the way to net zero and cooperate to achieve them.
